Scout Bobber Tail Tidy Kit — Cyclops

Centre brake light, dual plate lights · Indian Scout Bobber, Bobber Twenty & Scout Rogue — 2018 to 2024

A tail tidy developed on my own Scout Bobber. It keeps the plate, lighting and reflector where they belong and gives the rear of the bike the tight, muscular stance it should have had from the factory. This is the Cyclops version: a single centre brake light and dual plate lights for maximum visibility, recommended for solo-seat bikes. First public batch of nine kits, made and assembled in Melbourne.

Process

How a part gets made here

It starts on my own machine
Every product begins as something I wanted for a bike, wheel or workshop I use myself. If it doesn't earn its place there, it doesn't get made.

Engineered for the load case
Stiffness, retention, clearance and serviceability come first. If the shape is a bit mechanical, that's because durability won over hiding the structure.

Ride-tested before it's sold
Prototypes go through real riding in real weather, with deliberate abuse, until the weaknesses show themselves and get designed out.

Small batches, direct support
Short runs, made and assembled in Melbourne. You buy from the engineer, and you get support from the engineer.

Who's behind it

Guillaume. Engineer. Rider.

I'm Guillaume, a French-Australian engineer with about fifteen years across design, manufacturing and technical problem-solving — including defence and marine equipment. Curiosity came long before the job title: mechanics, electricity, electronics and building things were the childhood, and engineering is how it turned into reliable physical objects. I built the computer these parts were designed on, and designed them on it in the evenings after work.

Suki is the workshop cat and the mascot of The Gentleman's Gear. He supervises when he's awake, sits on the drawings when he isn't, and his verdict on most prototypes is that they need another one.
